Empowering African Entrepreneurs

About

umnandi’s mission is to provide young South Africans with practical knowledge and motivation to pursue entrepreneurial projects that benefit their communities. The project was initiated by students of Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship (CSE) in collaboration with Engineers Without Borders South Africa (EWB-SA) and Sci-Bono.

We strive to inspire and empower young South Africans by conducting entrepreneurial workshops that teach enterprising concepts and practical tools to identify and evaluate business opportunities and develop an implementation plan. Our workshops introduce fundamental startup theories and concepts around teamwork, idea generation, business development, pitching and more.

Two inaugural workshops were held in Johannesburg and Cape Town in April 2017 with around 80 participants. For the future, umnandi seeks to develop the concept further, expand the team, involve more partners and reach more people.

Who we are

We are a diverse team of entrepreneurship students from Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship (CSE) and Sahlgrenskas School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SSIE) in Sweden with different cultural and educational backgrounds ranging from engineering to economics, law, science and even visual art.
Since we feel that the knowledge we gained around our master program is worth spreading we created umnandi, as a catalyst in igniting the minds of underprivileged youth in South Africa.
